ढैंचा की खेती हरी खाद के उद्देश्य से की जाती है। हरी खाद वह प्रक्रिया है जिसमें दलहनी वर्ग की फसलों को खेत में उगाकर पर्याप्त बढ़वार के बाद मिट्टी में मिला दिया जाता है। ढैंचा सबसे महत्वपूर्ण हरी खाद फसल मानी जाती है। इसे हरी खाद के रूप में मिट्टी में मिलाने का सबसे उपयुक्त समय फूल आने की अवस्था होती है, जो कि लगभग 5 से 6 सप्ताह पुरानी फसल होती है। हरी खाद को बढ़ावा देना केवल उन्हीं फसल चक्रों में संभव है, जहाँ कटाई और अगली फसल की बुवाई के बीच करीब दो महीने का अंतर होता है। इस वर्ष कृषि विभाग ने ढैंचा को हरी खाद फसल के रूप में बढ़ावा देने की योजना बनाई है, जिसके तहत किसानों को ढैंचा का बीज 80% अनुदान पर उपलब्ध कराया जाएगा। ढैंचा की बुवाई के लिए बीज की मात्रा 25 किलोग्राम प्रति हेक्टेयर निर्धारित की गई है।

Dhaincha is cultivated in the field for Green Manuring purposes. Green Manuring is growing of field plants belonging to leguminous family and incorporating them into the soil after sufficient growth. Dhaincha is the most important green manure crop. The best stage at which the crop should be incorporated in the soil as a green manure is when it reaches the flowering stage i.e. 5 to 6 weeks old crop. The promotion of Green Manuring through Dhaincha is possible only in specific crop rotation system where the gap between harvesting and sowing of next crop is about two months. This year Department is planning promoting Dhaincha as a green manuring crop by providing seed to the farmers at 80% subsidized cost. The seed rate of Dhaincha is 25 Kg per hectare.
