हरियाणा में धान की खेती लगभग 31.25 लाख एकड़ क्षेत्र में की जाती है, जिसके कारण भू-जल का लगातार अत्यधिक दोहन हो रहा है और मिट्टी की उर्वरता भी घटती जा रही है। प्राकृतिक संसाधनों के संरक्षण के लिए हरियाणा सरकार प्रतिबद्ध है। इसी दिशा में राज्य सरकार ने वर्ष 2023-24 के दौरान आरकेवीवाई के अंतर्गत राज्य में मूल हरित क्रांति क्षेत्र में फसल विविधीकरण कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत की है। यह योजना उन अधिक जल-खपत वाले जिलों में लागू की जा रही है, जैसे अंबाला, फतेहाबाद, हिसार, जींद, करनाल, कैथल, कुरुक्षेत्र, पानीपत, रोहतक, सोनीपत, सिरसा और यमुनानगर, जहाँ धान की खेती 1.25 लाख एकड़ से अधिक क्षेत्र में की जाती है।

धान फसल के स्थान पर विविधीकरण के लिए मक्का हेतु 710 एकड़ तथा दालों—मूंग, उड़द और अरहर—हेतु 500 एकड़ का लक्ष्य निर्धारित किया गया है। इसके अतिरिक्त आगामी रबी मौसम में एग्रो-फॉरेस्ट्री (पॉपलर-गेहूं की अंतर-फसल) के अंतर्गत 16,805 एकड़ क्षेत्र का लक्ष्य रखा गया है। किसानों को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए राज्य सरकार ने मक्का पर ₹2,400 प्रति एकड़, दालों (मूंग, उड़द, अरहर) पर ₹3,600 प्रति एकड़ तथा एग्रो-फॉरेस्ट्री (पॉपलर-गेहूं अंतर-फसल) पर ₹2,000 प्रति एकड़ प्रोत्साहन राशि देने का निर्णय लिया है। इसके अलावा 602 पावर-स्प्रे पंप सेट का लक्ष्य रखा गया है, जिन पर पात्र किसानों को ₹3,000 प्रति पंप-सेट की सब्सिडी भी प्रदान की जाएगी।

Paddy is grown on an area of about 31.25 lakh acres in Haryana due to which there is continuous excessive exploitation of ground water and soil fertility is also decreasing. Haryana Government is committed to preserve natural resources, in this direction, the State Government has started Crop Diversification Programme in Original Green Revolution in the State under RKVY during 2023-24. The schemeis being implemented in the more water exhaustive districts like Ambala, Fatehabad,Hisar,Jind, Karnal, Kaithal, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Rohtak, Sonipat, Sirsa and Yamunanagar where paddy is grown more than 1.25 lakh acre. A target of 710 acre for Maize and 500 acre for pulses like Moong, Urd and Arhar has been kept to diversify the paddy crop with these crops.A target of 16805 acre has been under Agro-Forestry i.e inter-cropping of Poplar-Wheat inthe coming Rabi season. In order to encourage the farmers, the State Government has decided to provide an incentive of Rs. 2400/- per acre for Maize andRs. 3600 / - per acre for pulseslike Moong, Urd and Arhar and andRs. 2000 / - per acre for Agro-Forestry i.e inter-cropping of Poplar-Wheat.The target 602 numbers of Power-Spray Pump-set has been kept and subsidy of Rs. 3000 / - per Pump-set will also be given to the eligible farmers.Theincentive will be disbursed in the farmers bank accounts through DBT after physical verification. The farmer registration is mandatory on www.agriharyana.gov.in to get the benefit of the scheme. Apart from this, District Level Melas will also be organized to make farmers aware about the scheme. She also informed that an amount of Rs. 29.75 crore swould be spent by the State Government on implementing the Crop Diversification Programme.
